Trantec has been designing and manufacturing machinery for the plastics industry for almost two decades. Our range of Metering Screw Feeders, Flexible Screw Conveyors, and Augers are commonly used in plastics extrusion manufacturing facilities.
Our Metering Screw Feeders will often handle raw plastic materials such as polymers, additives, fillers, and glass fibres. Any Metering Feeder will typically handle plastic pellets, granules, flakes, and powder additives. Often, multiple screw feeders are operated at once as feed rates must be consistent to ensure a quality end-product is achieved. Below are the typical plastic extrusion materials used:
- PVCu – Polyvinyl Chloride Un-plasticised.
- PVC – Polyvinyl Chloride.
- ABS – Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene.
- HIP – High Impact Polystyrene.
- WPC – Wood Plastic Composite.
- PE – Polyethylene.
- PP – Polypropylene.
- PVC – Polyvinyl Chloride.
- PVC/NBR – Nitrile Butadiene Rubber/PVC blend.
- TPE – Thermoplastic Elastomers.
- PPE – Poly(P-Phenylene Oxide).
In a constantly evolving industry like that of plastics extrusion, it is important that the equipment suits the application. Materials must be fed at a consistent, pre-determined rate. PPE and PP will be constantly fed, with additives and any other dry bulk solids involved will also be fed via powder screw feeder.
Flexible Screw Conveyors are regularly employed for their gentle handling of powders and granular materials. The conveyor will often be employed to transport bulk solids from storage containers (such as bulk bags) to the feeder or extruder. Otherwise known as Flexible Spiral Conveyors, they are a go-to option for many plastics manufacturers worldwide due to their low maintenance requirements, simplistic design, and considerably lower price than other conveyor types (such as Pneumatic Conveyors, Aero Mechanical Conveyors, and Tubular Drag Conveyors). After all, lower costs mean higher profit margins!
In almost any solids handling industry sector, cost saving is imperative. This may be through purchasing equipment that is designed as a low-cost alternative or saving money by reducing downtime. Trantec understands this, offering advice on cost-effective solutions, or upgrades to our machines that aid you in getting your process up and running as quickly and as smoothly as possible.
Not all applications are the same. Even in the plastics industry, there are numerous production methods in place. We understand the importance of product testing and offer a free product testing and evaluation service. Our Test Lab is readily equipped with Metering Screw Feeders and Flexible Screw Conveyors in multiple configurations and set-ups.
